The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival), is a traditional Chinese event held on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, which is normally in June. The festival has been celebrated in several parts of East Asia for almost 2,000 years.
During the Dragon Boat Festival, people race dragon boats in memory of Qu Yuan(He was a statesman, strategist and litterateur in the Warring States period of China, and also one of the important figures in the history of ancient Chinese literature. Qu Yuan is famous for his Ci literature and is honored as the founder of Chu Ci) by eating Zongzi, a triangular or rectangular meal consisting of sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves and stuffed with various ingredients such as pork, beans, and nuts. We also wearing wormwood and calamus to ward off evil, tying on the wrist or the door to ward off evil.
The Dragon Boat Festival of 2023 will be celebrated on 22th of June, since then, we will enjoy a 3-days holiday!
