It is also named urine microalbuminuria(UMA or mALB) Albumin is a normal protein in the blood, But under physiological condition sit appear only very small amounts of albumin in the urine. Albumin molecular weight is 70KD, isoelectric point (IEP)is about 4.85.MAU occurs when the kidney leaks small amounts of albumin into the urine, So increased excretion of albumin (microalbuminuria) is an early indicator of glomerular disease.

What is MAU?
MAU in medicine refers to the trace albumin in the urine, and the trace albumin in the urine is 0-30mg/L in normal people. If the upper limit of this value is exceeded, that is, more than 30mg/L urine, indicating that the kidney may have a problem, but before the diagnosis of renal pathological disease, it is necessary to rule out some special conditions, such as fatigue, alcohol, strenuous activity or some diseases caused by temperature rise, or urine concentration, there can be a slight increase in the urine trace albumin. After sufficient rest, or the body temperature is adjusted to the normal range, the trace albumin in the urine will be reduced to the normal range, that is, 0-30mg/L.

test procedure
Negative:
Two color bands are visible. One is located in the test line region(T), the other is in control line region(C) Which means the MAU concerntrationis not present in urine or too low for detection.
Positive:
Only one color band appears in the control region(C). No visible band on the test region (T) means the MAU concentration is more than 20mg/L, which indicate possible CKD.
Invalid:
No visible bands in the control and test regions. Make sure to follow the above specified instructions for optimum results.
Limitations
1, Several clinical conditions, such as urinary tract infection, acute febrile illnesses, and heart failre, may transiently increase urinary albumin excretion. Screening of MAU should be postponed in these situations.
2, Positive result only means that the albumin exists in urine samples, but it cannot reports course of diabetes and other diseases.
